GENERAL TEAM BRANDING RULES
Up to 100 4-Man Teams, all "Open" *. Each individual may enter on as many teams as they want, but no duplicate teams. Entry fees are $50/man/entry. You can pay online via Venmo, PayPal, or mail a check to the address on our contact page. Checks must be received prior to roping. CASH ONLY ON ROPING DAY. Entry fee includes 1/3 stock charge, and cost of production (prizes, arena, personnel, etc.). We will pay up to 10 places, depending on final pot and presence of added money.
5 Minute time limit on 4 head. Each 4 man team will split into pairs and rope 2 head/pair. Start horseback. Ground crew must remain in designated area until heel rope is tight. Ground man can help pull a bad rope. Both Ground men must be back at the "fire" with irons in the pot for time to stop.
Ropes must be set clean on the front and back feet and tight before brand will count.
Legal head catches include Head, Half Head in case of horns, Neck and Front Leg. Legs may not be roped without a qualified head catch in place first (i.e. no roping hind feet or a front foot to gain control of an animal without a head catch first). Anything roped deep on headshot that goes around the cows belly is an illegal headshot and must be pulled prior. You can catch heels to pull the rope, but then the animal must be released and roped again with a legal head catch.
Rim fire, buckoff, or bad brand will all receive a 15s penalty.
TROT ONLY until necked.
No roughing the cattle! This includes but is not limited to choking, dragging, stirring, or hitting critter when it is down. NO RIDING OFF ON A HIGH HOCK. Any of these will receive +15 s. penalty, or for any reason seen appropriate by the judge. Severe abuse may result in a "No Time" at the judges discretion.
No complaining! Judges decision is final.
We reserve the right to amend these rules at any time prior to the start of the event. Rules will be read before event starts and any questions or changes will be addressed.
YOU BREAK IT, YOU BUY IT. This includes livestock and the facility. Please be respectful of both.
Any participant of this event (contestant, spectator, personnel, etc)., understands the hazards involved, and assumes all risk and personal liability.
* IF an event is ADVERTISED TO INCLUDE "MIXED TEAMS", add: To be a "Mixed" team, two team members must be ladies or age 16 and under. Fees are the same unless otherwise stated.
