Rules

Enter as three man teams. Draw entries are allowed but not guaranteed, depending on total primary draw entries received for any event. No duplicate teams (must change 1). You can pay online via Venmo, PayPal, or mail a check to the address on our contact page. Checks must be received prior to roping. CASH ONLY ON ROPING DAY. Entry fee includes 1/3 stock charge.

If event as advertised as a "Pick one/Draw One" event: For every paid entry, you will receive 2 runs, one with your picked or initial draw team, and one as a draw/additional draw team.

There will be a 6- Loop limit per run (no time if a head loop is not successful by the 5th attempt), or a 4-minute time limit. Time starts when any contestant crosses the marked rodear line to sort. Time ends when critter is stretched neat and clean, ground man is clear, and calls for time, and any strays across the rodear line have been returned to the herd. A team must receive a time in the first round to advance. Will pay on the best cumulative time for two rounds.

MIXED DIVISION (IF ADVERTISED) may have 2 team members that are "Open" level and at least one team member that is a woman or a person over 60 years of age or under 16 years (the mixer). The Mixer must participate in the roping. If an "Open" team member successfully necks, then the Mixer is the only one who may heel. If the Mixer successfully heads, than either Open team member may heel. No loop limit in Mixed (Time Limit only).

Cowboy attire, please. Slick horn wraps only- NO RUBBER.

Each team must sort a designated cow from the herd within the rodear area and through a "gate".
A "No Time" will occur if:
  • Any cattle other than the designated animal cross the rodear line through the gate or on either side of the gate prior to the designated animal being sorted; At producers discretion, this rule my be modified to permit up to 2 extra animals across the line.
  • The designated animal does not sort out through the gate or crosses the rodear line on either side of the gate;
  • The designated animal crosses back over the rodear line after being sorted, regardless if they have been roped or not.

Legal head catches include Head, Half Head, Neck and Front Leg, Figure Eight one or both front legs. Legs may not be roped without a qualified head catch in place first (i.e. no roping hind feet or a front foot to gain control of an animal without a head catch first). Anything roped deep on headshot that goes around the cows belly must be pulled, and re-roped.

No dally on a high hock! +10s penalty.
No roughing the cattle! This includes but is not limited to choking, dragging, stirring, or hitting critter when it is down. +10 s. penalty. Severe abuse may result in a "No Time" at the judges discretion.

We reserve the right to amend these rules at any time prior to the start of the event.
